September a Catechetical Month

Our catechists are working hard this month to raise money for this year Diocesan Catechetical Gathering which will take place inSt. Martin in October 11-14, 2007. Please respond generously to their fundraising efforts. They are young, they need training and a trip like this gives them the opportunity to be trained and energized for the new catechetical year.

The Sunday School classes will begin next Sunday, September 23.

If you have experience in catechetics or would like to become a catechist please contact the parish priest or call Parish Centre on Saturdays from 9.00-11.30a.m. or contact any of the catechists.

Meeting on Friday

Hoping thet the Hurricane Dean will be merciful to us -----All Catechists are invited to the monthly Meeting on Friday, August 17 in the Parish Centre at 7.30p.m. Our diocesan gathering in St. Martin as well as many oither matters pertaining to the new Catechetical year are to be discussed

CTI 2007 in Dominica (July 23-August 4, 2007)

Two weeks CTI workshop for catechists; second year of Basic Course 2006-2008 was held in Holy Redeemer Retreat House in Dominica. Thirty three participants attended the course; the bigest representation 14 from the Diocese of Ruseau in Dominica and the second largest group of 6 was from the diocese of St. John's-Basseterre; Sasha Liburd & Sanneeke Philip from Nevis, DonnaMae Lee from Montserrat and three participants from the Co-cathedral in Basseterre: Melanie Hutchinson, Shontall Billinhurst & Ceridwen Gill. The participants attended three courses given by Msgr. William John-Lewis from Doominica: Living & Celebrating the Sacraments, Mrs. Kay Pierre from Trinidad: Creative Teaching Techniques and Fr. Bernard Latus SVD from St. Kitts - Introduction to the Bible: Old Teastament. They had to write projects and exams and prepare the Liturgies: Morning & Evening Prayers and the Mass. The directrees of CTI Sr. Paula Andrew made sure that everyone has compleeted all the requirements of the course. All are looking to the next year especially in this venue in Dominica.
